On the afternoon of November 17, the event called "Day of Manta, Ecuador" was successfully held in Ningbo in celebration of the 5th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Ningbo and Manta, Ecuador. This event was hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of Ningbo Municipal People's Government and Consulate General of Ecuador in Shanghai, supported by the Municipal Government of Manta, Ecuador and Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Guayaquil, and sponsored by Ningbo Polytechnic. Relevant leaders attended the event, delivered speeches and jointly inaugurated the event, including Mr. JIAO Shuanglin, Deputy Director-General of Ningbo Foreign Affairs Office, Mr. Ivan Maldonado Vaca, Consul General of Ecuador in Shanghai, and Prof. WU Xiangyang, President of Ningbo Polytechnic. Ms. Marciana Valdivieso, Mayor of Manta, delivered a video speech.

The Deputy Director-General reflected on the history of friendly exchanges between the two cities, and hoped that this event could further enhance mutual understanding and lay a solid foundation for future mutually-beneficial cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, education and culture.

The Consul General extended his congratulations on the inauguration of the event, and he hoped that Manta and Ningbo could leverage the advantage of ports and locations, strengthen mutually-beneficial cooperation and explore more new areas of cooperation.
The President introduced the accomplishments of Ningbo Polytechnic in recent years on the aspects of discipline and profession construction, school-enterprise cooperation and internationalized school-running. He hoped to strengthen cooperation with Ecuadorian universities and colleges with the support of Consulate General of Ecuador in Shanghai.

Representatives of teachers and students of International Economy and Trade (Spanish) of Ningbo Polytechnic attended relevant activities.

Located on the west end of the Manabí Province on the western part of Ecuador, Manta is the largest and most populated city of the Manabí Province. Manta covers an area of 60.49 km2 with a population of 250,000. Manta is the second largest port city of Ecuador, ranking after Guayaquil. Manta is an important seafood processing and export center in Ecuador, as well as one of the main navy and air force bases. In September 2018, Ningbo and Manta officially established the relationship of friendly exchanges.
