Upon invitation, Signe Brudeset, the Norwegian Ambassador to China, visited Ningbo from July 17th to 18th. She attended the 2nd International Maritime Economy and Maritime Commercial Services Forum hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Ningbo. On the 18th, at noon, Tang Feifan, Mayor of Ningbo, met with the Ambassador and her delegation.

Tang Feifan extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Brudeset and her delegation. He mentioned that Ningbo is a coastal city, while Norway is renowned as the "Land of a Fjords". The two places share similarities in geographical environment, industrial development, and quality of life. In recent years, China-Norway relations have maintained positive momentum, and exchanges and cooperation between Ningbo and Norway in fields such as economy, technology, culture, and tourism have yielded fruitful results. Next year marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 20th anniversary of friendship between Ningbo and Stavanger. He expressed hopes for further deepening economic and trade exchanges, scientific and educational cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges, aiming to elevate the level of cooperation between Ningbo and Norway for mutual development. Ambassador Brudeset mentioned that Norway has a developed maritime industry, a longstanding shipping history, and rich experience in green transformation. She emphasized the significant potential for cooperation between Norway and Ningbo. She expressed hope that, taking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity, both sides would deepen practical cooperation in areas like maritime economy, green transformation, cultural exchange, and city diplomacy, ushering in a new era of exchange and cooperation.
