On the morning of March 18, Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, visited Ningbo with his delegation. Mr. TANG Feifan, Deputy Secretary of Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Ningbo, attended the related events.
As a friendly neighbour closely connected to China by shared borders, Vietnam has long been an important cooperation partner for Ningbo. In recent years, Ningbo has taken active measures in implementing President Xi Jinping's five proposals for China and ASEAN on building our home together. Fully leveraging its strengths in ports and industry, Ningbo has deepened exchanges and cooperation with Vietnam, fostering thriving economic and trade relations.
In 2024, Ningbo's import and export volume with Vietnam reached 5.54 billion USD, up by 15.2%. Vietnamese fruits and coffee have made their way into households across Ningbo, while Ningbo's electromechanical products have contributed to Vietnam's industrialization. In December 2020, Ningbo and Haiphong signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing the international friendly cooperative relationship. Last June, direct flights from Ningbo to Ho Chi Minh City were launched. Last month, the 31st China-ASEAN Senior Officials' Consultation was held in Ningbo. The close economic and trade ties, along with extensive cultural exchanges, vividly illustrate the enduring friendship between China and Vietnam.
On the same day, the Deputy Prime Minister and his delegation visited the exhibition hall of China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone-Ningbo Area and the Cross-border Self-Pickup Center in the Imported Commodity Market of Ningbo Bonded Area.
Le Quang Manh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Executive Deputy Director of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee, was among the officials accompanying the visit. Also in attendance were Vu Thanh Hung, Deputy Director-General of the Central General Office; Nguyen Hong Son, Deputy Minister of the Central Policy and Strategy Department; Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Nguyen Duc Tam, Deputy Minister of Finance. Ms. YE Miao, Member of Party Leadership Group of Ningbo Municipal Government and Director of Administrative Committee of Ningbo Economic and Technical Development Zone, attended the related events.
