On the afternoon of March 17, Ms. YE Miao, Member of Party Leadership Group of Ningbo Municipal Government and Director of Administrative Committee of Ningbo Economic and Technical Development Zone, met with Mr. Shehzad Ahmad Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Shanghai, and his delegation.

Ms. YE Miao briefed the Consul General and his delegation on the economic and social development of our city. She noted that China and Pakistan have enjoyed a long-standing friendship, and in recent years, bilateral economic and trade cooperation has continued to deepen. As the port of departure of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, Ningbo has conducted many productive and pragmatic cooperation projects with Pakistan in fields including trade, investment and cultural exchanges while participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. She expressed hope that both sides will further strengthen collaboration in areas such as economy and trade, education, youth exchanges and cultural tourism.

The Consul General noted that enterprises in Ningbo have made significant contributions to China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He expresses hope that both sides will strengthen collaboration in sectors such as textiles and garments, agricultural machinery, green energy, and medical and chemical industries, leveraging their complementary strengths. He also voiced the hope that the Ningbo Zhoushan Port will establish long-term exchange mechanisms with key Pakistani ports such as the Gwadar Port and the Port of Karachi, in order to enhance cooperation in port, shipping, and logistics.

Mr. XU Xiaochang, Deputy Secretary-General of Ningbo Municipal Government, and Ms. BAO Xianping, Director-General of Ningbo Foreign Affairs Office, attended the meeting.

During their stay in Ningbo, the Consul General and his delegation also held discussions with CCPIT-Ningbo Committee and Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Commerce.
