Recently, the "Teenage Music Ambassadors," a Ningbo Youth Cultural and Arts Exchange Troupe organized by the Ningbo Municipal Youth & Children's Palace, visited Wiener Neustadt in Austria to participate in the Danube International Music Festival. The troupe used music as a bridge to strengthen the friendship between the two cities and was warmly received by the local community.
The opening ceremony of the music festival was held at Wiener Neustadt's City Hall Square. Ms. Erika Buchinger, Deputy Mayor of Wiener Neustadt, attended and extended a warm welcome to the teenage artists from Ningbo. The troupe performed a string ensemble that blended Chinese and Western musical elements, winning enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Subsequently, teenagers from both cities staged a joint performance at the Kasematten Theater. Signature Chinese pieces such as Blue and White Porcelain and Singing the Painting Masks of Beijing Opera were performed in harmony with a local string ensemble. Impressions of Ningbo, composed by Austrian pianist Mr. Robert Werner, and Jasmine Flower, sung in chorus by teenagers from both cities, resonated strongly with the audience. Deputy Mayor Buchinger and Mr. Christian Hoffmann, Head of International Relations for the Wiener Neustadt City Government, presented members of the troupe with certificates recognizing them as "Rising Star Musicians." During the event, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Ningbo Experimental School signed a cooperation agreement with Hauer Matthias Conservatory of Music; Haishu District Youth & Children's Palace with Gröhr Mill Lane Academic Secondary School (Bundesrealgymnasium Gröhrmühlgasse); and Ningbo Art Experimental School Affiliated to ECNU with the Lower Austria Board of Education, aiming to promote reciprocal visits of teachers and students as well as artistic exchanges. Ms. QI Mei, Chinese Ambassador to Austria, attended the relevant events. In September 2002, Ningbo and Wiener Neustadt established a relationship of friendly exchanges. Over the past two decades, the two cities have engaged in active exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, science and technology, culture, education, and youth development. This visit, using music as a bridge, further strengthened the bond between the two cities and injected youthful vitality into the development of their friendship.
