Since 1990, the China-Japan Friendship Cities Table Tennis Friendship Tournament has been co-hosted by the CPAFFC, the China-Japan Friendship Association, the Chinese Table Tennis Association, and the Japan Table Tennis Association, with the aim of upholding the fine tradition of "Ping-Pong Diplomacy" between China and Japan and using table tennis as a bridge to promote exchanges between the two countries in the fields of friendship cities, sports and youth development.

Ningbo established a relationship of friendly exchanges with Ueda in February 1995, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of this relationship. Since then, the two cities have achieved fruitful results in exchanges in the fields of culture, sports, youth development, and others. Before this tournament, Mr. TAKADA Shinobu, President of the Ueda Japan-China Friendship Association, led a delegation to Ningbo for a preliminary visit and held discussions with relevant departments in Ningbo. During the visit, the Ningbo players held joint training sessions with their Japanese counterparts. Through pre-match preparations, technical training, and post-match interactions, the four athletes of the Ningbo-Ueda Team forged friendships, deepened mutual understanding, and demonstrated good sportsmanship.
